📚 Janet Watts
Janet Watts was named Central Goldfields’ Citizen of the Year in 2025 after decades of work centred on Dunolly. Her contributions included emergency-service volunteering, the hospital auxiliary, local health governance and helping establish Neighbourhood Watch. A teacher for more than forty years, she also provided free tutoring to local students over many years. The council’s account records involvement in restoring local banking services and supporting church activities. Her biography is unusually varied, but its common thread is straightforward: finding a community need and helping organise a response.
